What I Ate (7th Jan 2016) & Deep Thoughts

January 07, 2016

Greetings :)

(Breakfast)

It's been such a beautiful day and this post is going to be a word vomit of some of my thoughts.
Bon appétit, haha!

(Breakfast)

After some thought, I've come to realise that my favourite time of the day is dawn, before the sun fully rises. I just like the blueish tint the sky radiates during dawn. It's neither dark nor bright. It's not gloomy but nor is it cheery. It's kind of like hope. (I don't know where I'm going with this, haha.) But I just feel like dawn is a sign of hope- hope for a good day etc. Hope can be both a sad or happy thing. If you're hoping for something good, that propels you forward and that's positive. But if you're holding onto an empty promise, hoping that things will change for the better when it probably won't, that's negative.

Wow. I thought of all of this while just thinking about dawn.

My friend and I went polytechnic hopping today! We went to Nanyang Polytechnic, followed by Singapore Polytechnic. I probably shouldn't share too much information on our visit but I'll just say that it really opened our eyes :)  We learnt more about what poly life was like from the poly students so we were getting real testimonies. This will really help me in my decision making after I get my results on Monday. *internally cries*

I've been having some other pretty interesting thoughts lately. I watched this anime some time back and the things which the guy (in the anime) said really resonated with me. I won't explain the scene otherwise this blog post is going to be too long. But basically, the line I wanted to focus on went something like this: "I want to be a star who never forgets how it feels like to be a fan."

I guess the main message is that it's important to stay humble and remember your roots. It's like how a teacher should remember how it feels like to be a student or how a professional/champion should remember how it feels like to be an amateur.

This humility is going to make you empathic and kind, I think. It's so scary to lose sight of your past and where you started. It's like losing your home and your roots, forgetting who was really there for you from the start.

So I guess it's always important to stay humble.

I've also been thinking more about my roots and where I started from. I used to have such a bad relationship with food and I'm just so so sooo thankful for where I am now. I truly Praise The Lord for leading me to a vegan lifestyle and showering me with love and wonderful friends and family :))

My friend and I had lunch at a food court in Buona Vista. Just simple rice with vegetables.

For tea break, we had Pong Gelato at SCAPE!!

Absolutely divine. It's so worth it.

We then went to Kallang Leisure Park to have dinner at Clover 8.

Very delicious and satisfying :)  So thankful to have such a wonderful friend!

On my bus ride back home, I sat next to an old man. He suddenly talked to me out of the blue and it didn't feel weird or awkward at all. He began by asking me if the bus we were on would make a loop but I told him I wasn't sure. We then proceeded to converse (it was mostly him talking).

He told me about how his friends were getting dementia and going for operations and passing away. He said that he believes in rest and not being stressed. He was also mentioning how his memory was fading too. I then noticed that there were pen markings on his palm and I assumed that those were notes that he wrote down so that he could remember things.
Shortly after, he did mention that the writings on his palm were like reminders for him.

He then also said, "You have your little computer (he pointed to my phone) and I have mine." He then took out a little black notepad which was filled with scribbles of words. To which I replied with a smile, "That's very high-tech!" He chuckled then placed it back in his pocket.

I had to get off the bus and I told him to take care :)

It's these small encounters with people which I really enjoy. It doesn't happen often because everyone's too caught up in the cycle of life (school, work etc.).
We simply get too distracted to interact face-to-face with people and we forget to notice the small things. And it's usually the small things which can make a big difference.

But on the other hand, social media and electronic gadgets have helped so many people stay connected.
I had a lovely conversation with an awesome girl on Instagram :)  She was so friendly and open! I enjoyed our little convo we had and if she ever sees this, HELLO!! You're awesome :)

You're all awesome :))

I really thank God for this awesome day :)

That's all for this whacky post, bye for now!!
